Barton Wares began in a rented terrace in Melbourne, with a linen sheet that cost too much and pilled in a month. We wanted to know who made the things in our house, and whether they'd last.
So we started small — one throw, one mug — and only added a piece once we'd lived with it for a season. Everything here has been used in our own homes first. If it didn't hold up, it didn't make the range.
We work with a handful of Australian makers and a mill in Belgium that's been weaving flax for four generations. No seasonal drops, no clearance events. Just things we'd buy again.

Most of this gets better with use, provided you don't fight it.
Cold machine wash, gentle cycle, line dry in shade. It'll soften every wash. Skip fabric softener — it coats the fibre and stops it breathing.
Dishwasher safe, though handwashing keeps the glaze brighter. Avoid taking it from fridge to oven; thermal shock is what cracks it, not age.
Wipe with a damp cloth. No solvents. Store flat or loosely rolled — tight rolling sets a curl that takes weeks to relax.
Keep sealed, away from heat and light. Loose leaf is best inside six months; after that it's still safe, just quieter.
Most metro orders arrive in 2–4 business days. Regional and WA can take up to a week. You get tracking as soon as it leaves us.
Not yet. We post within Australia only while we get the packaging right.
Unused and unwashed, within 30 days, yes. If something fails in normal use we'll replace it regardless of how long you've had it.
Yes — paper tape, cardboard, and a paper void fill. The only exception is the mist bottle, which ships in a moulded pulp tray.
Usually. Small runs mean gaps of a few weeks. Leave your email on the product and we'll tell you when it lands.
Questions about an order, a piece, or how something's made — we read everything and reply within a business day.
